From Dangerous Goods to Hazard Communication

HazCom team: from Dangerous Goods to Hazard Communication

Eindhoven, Netherlands – The Dangerous Goods team of Philips Engineering Solutions received a new name. The team, often only referred to as the DG team, decided to change their name into a more descriptive term. The new name HazCom is applicable from July 1, 2018. HazCom is the acronym for Hazard Communication and describes the activities and services of the team more accurately.

What is hazard communication?

Hazard Communication generally describes the action to effectively communicate hazard information – in the workplace and downstream the communication chain – on safe handling, shipping and general risk of exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Our HazCom services

The name Dangerous Goods is related to and put in context with the IATA Dangerous Goods regulation. The HazCom team will remain advising and supporting questions related to the transport of Dangerous Goods. Yet the focus of the team on hazard communication is emphasized with the name change. With our HazCom services we help communicating hazards and the safe use of chemicals through:

  • GHS (Globally Harmonized System) and CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) compliant Safety Data Sheets
  • Workplace Instruction Cards (WICs)
  • GHS Labels
